    • Hey all I am looking for the best surf prop out there for this style of boat.

I have all factory ballast plus 800Lbs in each rear locker. I also have a 350Lbs on the port side.

I have custom built surf tabs that are basically like The surf tabs on 2013 and newer

    • Details are clues, the more you can provide the more the crew can help.   For example, “first time out with the boat in three years” might suggest bad gasoline.

What engine temps did you see and how long was the engine running etc, what rpm did you see the issue? What is your maintenance history? (and what tow vehicle just for fun)

I am 4 year owner of a 2008 23 LSV.  Great condition looks great.   My family of 5 young adult/teenage kids really enjoy the boat.  Kinda of a pain to surf behind as we suction cup our wake shaper to each side of the boat, lacks wave consistency, and surfing seems to really work the engine when underway with a descent load in the boat.   So, we are looking to trade up to a 2022 25 LSV.  Big deal considering the 6 figure + difference.  I'm new to the forum, so would gladly take your advice.  Would appreciate any help with these questions:

      1.  Will the 25 LSV be a good choice as an all-around boat.  Some surfing, wake boarding, and cruising the waters of Table Rock Lake Missouri?

      2.  Does anyone have an opinion on the wedge lift mode?  What conditions do most use this lift mode for?

      3. I was surprised to learn navigation is not included.  One has to purchase a card.  Seems odd with all the electronics on board.  Is this correct?

      4.  This 2022 25 LSV does not include the Natalie bow seat.  Can this be an option to add?

      5.  The 25 LSV does have stern turn.  When test driving in the middle of the lake, I really wasn't impressed.  I'm hoping it'll be helpful in the calmer waters of marinas, while docking or at the fueling dock.  Any opinions?

      6.  We have also looked at the 24 MXZ line.  Seems like a great option as well, but I am told the 25 LSV will have a much better ride while cruising the lake.

      7.  Comes with surf band... is this a gimmick or do folks use it?

Before taking the plunge, thought I'd reach out to the forum.  Thank you in advance.

      1.  I find  it a good all around boat for us.  We do mostly surfing, some wakeboarding, some foiling, and some cruising.  I will note that we really love the LT4.  It really helps across the board.

      2.  We only use lift mode for wakeboarding.  Very, very helpful there.  Big difference if the motor struggles at all (MD6 on the 25, or MD5 on smaller boats).

      3. Don't know about this.

      4.  Was an option for us but did not order.

      5.  We have stern turn. Nice for picking up boarders, and nice for pulling up at marina.  Not sure I would have got it just for that though.  We got it to pull into narrow slips where we are.  New 25 LSV are tall boats and catch the wind.  I find stern turn very, very helpful for getting into narrow slips.  Can you do it without it, sure, but having it is worth it for that reason for me (helps to reduce the pucker factor)..

      6.  No experience with MXZ.

      7.  I use  it when the wife pulls me and we have variable loads that require some adjustment.  Having said that, it is still mostly a nice to have.  I could live without it.

    • Good luck with the diagnosis.  Putting the trans in gear on the trailer and out of the water should never be done, the shaft bearings need water for lubrication.  Hopefully prop / shaft / trans are all okay.  I would suggest a compression and leak down test as diagnostic tests.  Compressed air can be a tool to determine if there is a breach between the oil and water sides of the block / engine (you listen for gurgling water).  Last thing @csleaver offers excellent advice / suggestions.

    • For sure. I looked all over the motor today before tomorrow just so I could see if anything outside was wrong. Only thing I found was a small crack on the exhaust manifold. Praying it didn’t cause too much damage. Thanks again for the replies.
