Im ordering an 07' VLX mostly all black and dark gray and was wondering on the swim platform. I love the teak minus the maintenance but I think the black platform would look better. What is your ideas? Any black boats out there with teak platform? Any probkems w/ 07' fiberglass swimsteps?

Had teak on the 03, chose fiberglass on the 05 and 07 and have been much happier.

Get fiberglass. I had teak on my 05 and on my 07 ordered fiberglass. I am very anal about my boat and oiled the hell out of the teak and could still never ge it to look good for more than a couple days. Why not go with a gray swim deck since the whole top is black.

As a teak fan on ski boats, I also say go with a fiberglass on the VLX. I think that on the classic ski boats, the teak is much classier, but on the wakeboard boats I like the looks of the glass better.

Probably is a subject for another thread but I found that this happens if you don't let the wood completely dry out after cleaning and brightening before oiling. I was frustrated by the same thing, then I read the directions on the teak kit and then last year let the teak dry out in the sun for 3 days before oiling it up. I put nearly 70 hours on the boat last year and it still looks great with periodic oiling...

Get a black 06 platform, you'll eventually break your tail bone on the 07 slippery foam platform.

Agreed, The fibergalss looks better and 06 is is better. I can't count the number of people who have fallen on our 07
