Well, to my dismay, I was not able to fix the high idle problem of my bu' myself. I had to call the local dealer and make an appointment. My appointment isn't until June 3rd!!! With the Memorial day holiday coming up, this couldn't be a worse time to break down. Everyone and their brother has their boats in for service this time of year. I guess I'm going to have to bum rides off my buddies. To make it worse, I have to look at my otherwise perfect bu' sitting in the driveway each day.

Don't feel bad, when I bought my Bu new in May 2000, the transmission was leaking into the bilge. I called my dealer and they told me 3 months to get in and have it looked at. I called California and got a hold of Guy Coward, who put me in touch with another dealer 1.5 hrs away. They ordered a new transmission and had me back on the water in 4 days. It doesn't hurt to look at another Malibu dealer. To say the least I think I was part of the reason My dealer lost Malibu and now pushes Tiges. We now have a new dealer who sells Malibus and Cobalts, who is service oriented. I just put my boat in last Monday for annual service and new interior, due to angry ex-wife, and it will be ready before Memorial Day.

Why can't you see another Indmar delear?

Even a mercruiser dealer. A fuel injected GM motor is common to both.

I'm in a crappy area. The closest bu' dealer is 2 hours away. There is another Indmar dealer that sells MasterCrafts, however I've left three messages with them and they have yet to return my call. I'm thinking of calling either Malibu and/or Indmar tomorrow for other suggestions, but I'm beginning to think that any shop will be swamped this time of year.

I called a place listed on Indmar's web site out in the Harrisburg, PA area. I wouldn't let this guy pay ME to work on my boat. He tried to tell me that Indmar didn't make fuel injected engines until the last two years and that my engine was carbourated (sp?) and all I had to do was adjust the idle screw on the carbourator (sp?) and it would fix my high idle. When I insisted that it was in fact EFI, he said he has no ability to work on the EFI models.

My ex-wife and I have been trying to get divorced for 2 yrs. She did this last July, because she was mad that I was in the Florida Keys with a female friend. She followed someone thru the gate into my storage area and poured a gallon of blue paint all over the interior of my Bu. It has cost her the reduced value of the boat in the divorce settlement. Our divorce was finalized on Thursday. I have forgiven her and we got divorced as friends. My Malibu is in the shop for a new interior. I feel like a part of the Jerry Springer Show. I'm glad this is almost over.
