hello Malibu family - seeking advice.  own a 2018 23LSV.  having starting issues.  the boat turns over as normal 80% of the time.  when it doesn't I hit the start button and nothing.  no noise, no signs of it struggling to turn over.  wait 5 minutes and hit the button again and it usually turns over as normal.  batteries have been tested and no issues.  could there be a short in the start button or the starter itself?  thanks in advance for any insight...

Those power and start buttons can fail. I keep one of each of these in the boat with me.

I believe the buttons are now hardwired to a small harness in the2018models. The 2012 models used to be a simple button swap on mine.

My 2018 had same symptoms and it was the Micro switch in the throttle causing it. I wired a jump switch directly to starter for when it happened. Used it all summer when needed and had throttle replaced under warranty in off season.image.png.e414b3508430c21e3a2512d1e9d6533d.png

Assuming all of your main power and ground cables are clean and tight from the batteries to the engine, there could be an intermittent problem with the neutral safety switch in the shift throttle controller.

This is what mine was on my 2018. New throttle assembly during warranty fixed it.
