MD5i vs MD6i

I think we are missing part of the equation here.  While yes, the larger motor is going to be more power, what is often the limiting factor is the transmission ratio.  The newer boats that are running 2:1 and 17" props operate completely differently than the 15" propped and lower ratio transmission boats.  In the VTX and older T22, you were still in the 15" prop range and those boats would struggle loaded.  If they have moved to the 17" props, an m5 would likely be a large upgrade.

The 23 MXZ would be on the 2:1 and 17" propped boat.  I'd recommend getting out on the water with it, have it loaded up, ask for them to bring additional ballast if you can't get your 6 buddies with you and see how it does.  I'd also confirm the prop that is being used.

I have the M6 in my '21 23LSV and a friend has the M5 in his '22 23LSV and he hasn't complained about it being under-powered.  I have borrowed a dealer '22 23MXZ (M5) for a couple weekends back in 22 and never had issues with it.

Agreed with above.  My buddy's 23 LSV with the M5 has a 2805 prop, and as I stated earlier the only difference we notice is that his RPMs are a little higher and motor is working a bit more under load.  Never struggled to get on plane or anything like that.

I ordered my 2021 23LSV with the M6.  If I had to do it all over again, I would do the same.  I ran the 2805 prop with great success.  The other element of that in the 23LSV is added resale.  JMO.
