Adding Tower Speakers

ERB

Recommended Posts

I have a 2022 LSV22 and it came with a standard sound system and 1ea 12" Subwoofer. It did not come with Tower Speakers and i want to add them.

Can I just add the speakers without adding an additional amp? How difficult is it to add the speakers?

You will need to add an amp. The tower may be pre-wired, but its possible that the wires are stubbed under the deck and need to be extended to the amp wall.

Connect with Brandonloos21 and he can help you out. You'll need a wiring harness to use a non-OEM amp and he can help you with that. Alternatively, you might be able to snag a really good deal on a factory tower amp / factory speakers from somebody who took theirs off.

I intentionally ordered my 2024 with no tower speakers and have rev 12s and sdx4 ready to install when my boat arrives.

@ERB id recomend against a malibu factory amp from classifieds or facebook and go with an aftermarket amp adapter / wetsounds amp, for the tune-ability, and the power output to those speakers. what tower do you have and what tower speakers are you looking to add?

@dshackwhat tower do you have and what are you doing for the speaker brackets. there is a thread from last year @IXFE that detailed the tapped bracket holes pre-drilled in the tower wont work for REV-12'S with the wetsounds bracket without modification , and the spacing needed for the larger can size

@Stevo

Totally agree on aftermarket/non DSP amps being a much better option!

I'm getting the G5 tower on my new boat. These are the adapters @Brandonloos21  suggested, and he thinks I'll just have to slightly drill out the center of the xhd bracket for the wiring to fit thru:

@dshack - I have the G5 tower which i hope is pre-wired. I don't need to get super crazy with sound but definitely want 2 speakers. I have seen amps ranging between $750 and $2400 and have read a bunch of reviews of Rev8 speakers. What are your suggestions? thanks.

I did what @IXFE suggested and have a single pair of rev12's and am very happy with how it turned out.
