RAM recall coming soon?

If they issue a recall, I wouldn't take mine in for it. A friend of mine had his 1500 done on the recall, and then traded it in because of it.

Pretty wild they'd try something like this after what happened to VW.

I got one in the mail yesterday. I have not read it. My bookkeeper told me. IIRC

”engine calibration”

Luckily I  am on a hunt for a new one. I would already have one if I could have found one before the new year.
Mine popped a check engine light

at about 190k. Now at 197k  Still running though. Hit will be the first time that my 3 Rams have been to the dealer in Almost 500k

In Cali you do not have a choice. They won’t renew registration we it out it. 🤬🤬

Anyone  know of any Ram 3500 4wd SRW cc longbeds out there. Gotta be white, black interior, Limited preferred. OH YEAH, Gotta be HO Diesel with the Aisin.

I got a recall letter in the mail for mine yesterday. I can't seem to find the time to take it in for any of the recall letters I've received.... welding the steering adjustment nuts....this one....  no thanks.

I went through the recall on my 2014 EcoDiesel. I didn’t notice any difference in performance, and with the settlement they gave me the price of the upgraded engine back as well as an extended power train warranty. If it’s the same here sign me up!  (But I’ll let others go first)😉

Save yourself some money and buy in Canada. Likely save 10k, 120k is right around 90k usd.

They haven’t found me yet. I have decided my 2 courses of action will be; they get tired of sending me the letters and it all just quietly goes away or I get SWAT’d by the EPA and I have to get the recall done. Unlike the left coast we don’t have the sniffer requirements for registrations here in TN. Good luck to everyone, I can’t see the consumer winning on this one.

I not familiar with this.

Why would you not want to take it in?

If you spend $80-90k on a truck that has (had) 800+ tq / 350+ hp and turns out they cheated emissions to get those numbers and then they issue a tune recall. Then you take it in for the tune/ calibration recall and power drops significantly and probably fuel economy, you essentially didn't get what you paid for. Most likely if the emissions system can't do the job for the advertised performance numbers, they will have to reduce power to get where the EPA wants them to be. Might not be an issue for the casual drivers, but for people that tow with their vehicle for a living it might be enough for them to jump ship.

If the mfr. had to cheat emissions to get those numbers that is pretty sad to begin with.

That is a good looking truck and it even has the sunroof

I’d check to make sure warranty stays intact if it’s brought from Canada to the US.

I work in the industry and closely with Cummins because we buy engines from them, from the B6.7 to the X15. We read the ruling that was publicized and we can’t make sense of what Cummins supposedly did either.  This is what frustrates us as an OEM.  You can do everything by the book, pass certification (which costs an insane amount of money), and you can still get sued by a government agency that says “You cheated, we don’t know how, but we know you did.”

This is about 8% of their annual revenue (Cummins has been in the $18-24 billion range the last 6 years), it was a settlement, if it went to trial, it could have cost them much worse. They simply did the math to minimize their expenses.  After what happened to VW (their costs were closer to $14 billion) Cummins played it safe.
If what was done passed initial certification but the government can come back and say you cheated, the certification process is either broken, or the suit after the fact is just a money grab.

I think you may mean revenue, not profit.

You’re right.  I made a mistake there.  I’ll fix it.

The 737MAX passed all the original FAA certifications too.

They are trying to scare everyone out of the business, can't blame Caterpillar for running from the market the EPA is trying to kill.

That’s because FAA got lazy and let Boeing self certify large steps in their design and production.

The EPA has an insane amount of power.

But less than California.
