Diff between 2001 Sunsetter and wakesetter?

I'm shopping for a boat, and I've heard the 01 wakesetter VLX on the diamond hull was a great crossover for skiers. I've found an 01 Sunsetter VLX on the diamond hull that looks promising. Am I correct that the only difference between the two models is cosmetic?

01 Wakesetter VLX came on the non-diamond hull by default but could be ordered with a diamond hull.  Wakesetter came with MLS (factory ballast) which was an option on the Sunsetter VLX.  Sunsetter VLX was available with a Wedge that year whereas the non-diamond Wakesetter VLX was not.

If you like to ski, you'll love the Sunsetter VLX.  My dad has had one since it was new in '01 with no plans of ever getting rid of it.  Super versatile boat that skis much better than any V drive made in the last several years.

Nice find, we have really enjoyed our VLX with the wake hull. You are correct there are cosmetic differences, the graphics and maybe a tower. Pretty sure the wakesetter also comes with MLS, Malibu launch system, which I believe is just a ballast tank in the center where the ski locker is. The Sunsetter will have just the ski locker.

There is a decent difference in the wake between the wake and diamond hull. The diamond puts out a slightly smaller, softer wake. Is it competition boat worthy? No. Can you run through the ski course? Sure. The VLX skier tow point is towards the rear of the boat, not it in the middle like the true cross over designed VTX. The VTX is only 20 foot, and will be difficult to find at the price of that VLX. Pretty sure they started the VTX in 2007.

You can visually confirm the hull type before you buy, sometimes people don't know what they have.... just look at it from the back. The diamond hull angles down on the edges. Here is a photo of my wake hull for reference.
