2002 VLX Winterizing/Service (383 Stroker Engine)

Hello,

I purchased a used VLX this past summer and now is time to store for winter.  My question:  is it a good idea to let a boat shop winterize and service before next lake season or is that overkill?  Ideally would service, store, and be ready to launch when spring hits.  Or should I wait closer to boat season.

I can handle changing vehicle oils, etc and can handle this if that all there is to it...just wondering if there is more complicated process to winterize an inboard since I have never owned one before this.

Thanks,

BP

you need to get the water out.  Coupled hose that connects the manifolds (disconnect and lower to drain),  drain on both sides of the block - one side it probably a sensor (stick a piece of wire to make sure they both sides drain, sometimes rust is sitting right there),  J Hose (drain bottom),  outlet hose on water pump (push down to drain).   If you have a heater there is an line at the top of the engine and another one lower - you need to blow that out too.

I'm not sure what is needed on the vdrive - I'm sure others can chime in on that.
