Digitial oil pressure sensor issues

Recommended Posts

Hi I have a 2014 Wakesetter with a 350 Monsoon and last time we had the boat out i got a high oil pressure alarm. I shut down the engine then restarted it and the oil pressure was normal but then went to 590 PSI then back down to zero. Now every time i turn the ignition on the pressure is reading 690 with the engine off then drops to zero when the engine is running. i have ordered a new digital oil pressure sensor which was $370, just wondering if anyone else has had the same issues?

I think this is the service manual you need, https://marinepowerusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/MEFI-6-Service-Manual.pdf

Oil pressure wiring diagram should be section 9, page 24.  Usually a sensor that pegs like that then goes to 0 indicates a short or open circuit (like if it was unplugged).  It will also usually set a fault code, which that manual has troubleshooting for.

And to possibly save you some $$$, Skidim has the sensor for quite a bit cheaper. https://skidim.com/digital-oil-pressure-sensor.html

I would call them to verify that matches but I’m pretty positive it’s the right one

If that for some reasons isn’t the right one, you can look here.  They have all sorts of downloadable manuals.

Lastly, you can try removing the sensor on your engine and see what the PN is.  I’d be willing to guess it’s likely a GM sensor which may be used in some of your Holden vehicles with similar V8s.
