2006 Wakesetter 23 LSV Indmar 8.1 cracked block during winterization?

Recommended Posts

Wintereized by boat today and when I drained the oil, it was light brown. Looks like water got in there. I'm hoping I did something wrong with pressurizing the water intake, but I'm worried something happened with the head gasket or engine cooling jackets.

I have a 2006 23SLV with 8.1. I'm having ECU issues. I just got a new ECU, started the boat and ran it for 10 min before it died. No power to fuel pump. I hooked a battery to the fuel pump directly and it ran so i could winterize it. I hooked a hose up to the intake on my V-drive. It seemed to have a lot of pressure building up with the water on, so I drilled a hole in the adaptor from the hose to the inlet to release some pressure from the hose. started the boat, got up to 1/2 way up the temperature guage and I switched from the hose to the coolant. Fogged and shut the engine off after 5 gallons flowed in. Drained the oil and it was Brown also more than what have should been in there.

Historically, engine blew once from a failed oil pump with prior owner and was replaced 2-3 years ago with a new short block. Has about 200 hrs.

Any help/guidance appreciated. Not sure if the boat is okay to sit for the winter. At this point I am leaning towards taking it to the dealer to have it worked on between the no start and the possible bad block or head gasket.

Thanks!

You have a lot going on.  First thing first.  Do a compression test.

Actually get the oil and pour it into a clear jar.  See if it separates into oil and water.

Maybe the fogging contaminated the oil a bit.
