I have two wired Sony remotes for my Sony head units and both randomly are not providing any input to the stereo.  The screen still shows changes in volume and input but I have to change these on the head unit directly. Link to the remote below. Any ideas about what might be causing this? Where to start troubleshooting? Boat is an 07 and I think stereo is from that era.

see if you can find that sony HU manual, i gave mine up to trade along with all my manuals 

that manual also details how you cant stream unless songs downloaded to phone (at least on the driver usb cord in the opening below throttle)
