Rockford Fosgate unit problems

Hello everyone,

My 2012 LSV has the original RF head unit that is now intermittent in operation. Usually works perfectly fine when I start the boat cold, but the screen and functions will quit working after 20mins running. The unit only has 1 wire with a plug (which I pulled apart and plugged back together to check connection), but no change. I’m afraid the unit is going bad. 
1. what can I buy to replace this unit? 
2. how difficult is it to re wire a replacement unit, if they don’t have that same plug? 
3. has anyone had a similar experience?

Hi, I am having the same problem on a 2012 VTX. Last summer it worked like you describe, this summer it won’t even power up. I had asked this group for some direction but no real help yet. So unfortunately I am of no help to you, other than feeling your pain. But if I figure anything out I will let you know. I will also be following your post. It would be helpful to have a schematic of the system. Good luck.

Thanks @Planker for the reply. I do have some good news…malibuparts does have the ability to get a replacement RF unit even though it says sold out. There’s a drop ship fee but it’s plug & play, it fits, and it’s the cheapest option out there at just over $200. You have to send them a note to get the details on drop ship. Good luck!

MykP, thanks for that info I will follow up with them. You’re going to laugh at me for this but….I don’t even know where the head unit is! I see the remote in the dash, I see a box mounted on the wall in the battery compartment (behind spotter’s sear) with a bunch of wires going to it, including where I plugged in the Sirius unit I installed, but I don’t know where the radio & amps are even located. So getting a new RF unit may solve my problem if I can figure out where to install it!! Thanks again.

Is the new head unit the same one as it was in 2012?  Or is it an upgrade with bluetooth?
