Site upgrade 7/20/23

Hey all,

We ran an impromptu upgrade this evening to (hopefully) deal with a sudden onslaught of spam that we were getting hit with over the past 24 hours. Please let us know if you see anything out of place or not working correctly.

Axis forum has gone wonky with old topics from May/April showing up on first page.

Yeah, about that. We're doing some reorganization of the site. We'll get a separate announcement up about it pretty soon.

There is this announcement in the Axis forum;

The content in this forum is in the process of being integrated into the rest of the main site to improve site organization. Discussion about Axis boats, whether general topics or those regarding accessories, mods or maintenance will now take place side by side with the Malibu discussions in the main forums. Please post new topics about Axis boats in the appropriate forums.

We are slowly integrating all the Axis forum threads into the Main forums. This is a one by one thread move so it's going to take a bit of time to get them all moved over. The Axis forum has been a mess with the popularity of the Axis boats gaining so much ground in the last few years. There is currently no organization to the Axis forum. Combining those threads with the main forum will make the threads more inline with the rest of the site. As of now, you can reply to older threads left in the Axis forum that haven't been moved but you will not be able to start new threads in that forum. Please start any new threads in the correct, catagorized main forums.

Thanks for your understanding while we get the move completed. This will take some personal adjustment and possibly searching for a thread but we think it will be much more organized for the site overall.

We’ve got a few new tools that are helping, but they’re still managing to get through the registration validation piece. We’ll have to leave it on manual approval for a while until I can get some stronger tools to deal with it. With the growing use of tools like openai, it may be an uphill battle, at least for a while.

This seems like a great idea to me since everybody with an Axis asked their questions in that forum regardless of the actual topic of the question.

Possibly also consider renaming or changing the order of the forums on the main page so that Maintenance (for example) comes before Malibu Love.  New members seem to plop their questions in the first forum they find and make you sort it out.  Strategic names and ordering might get them to pay attention long enough to actually use the correct forum in the first place.

Thanks! We did considered that approach but decided all the wrong threads would be started in the Maintenance section instead of the General section. We move thrreads as soon as we see or notice them. I think posting in the wrong category is just part of a forum. Most times members only do it once and they get the hint. BUT...keep those suggestions coming.
