2018-2022 23 LSV

Finally starting to look for a used 23 LSV.  I know we want Surf Tabs & the fold down swim step, besides that looking for advice from the crew.  Differences in year models, options, etc… all will be a big upgrade from our 99 Sunsetter LX. This boat will be used on Lake Travis in Tx.  Do I need the 6.2 or is the M5 good enough ? Thanks

2021 will be the latest/newest edition - hull, walkthrough transom etc.  2024 will likely be a new update/ refresh again..  engine, most people will say bigger is better.  Not going to argue that.  With that said, at your elevation M5 is plenty for both surfing and wakeboarding even heavily ballested.  I run everything full (plug in play included)  plus an additional 500lbs of lead with M5 and no issues.  Prop selection is key - 17x14 prop has worked very well.  RPMs wakeboarding around 3900 to 4000 (at 21.2mph).  surfing about 3600 rpms or so,

I recommend doing some research on dealers in your area and select one with good customer reviews to help you find the right boat, and test drive the m5/m6/ls4 so you can feel the difference for yourself without pressure from a private party.  With as new as you are looking you’re gonna want to have a good relationship with the dealer to get it serviced appropriately and transition the factory warranty etc.  The past couple years - with the market inflation - I would have said doing it yourself on the private used market would be a good idea to save money, but the dealers in my area have come down quite a bit and are very competitive with private sellers.  Even reliable good boats will have failures and having a good relationship with the dealer really helps get you back on the water quicker.
