Hiring to inspect a Malibu

Recommended Posts

Hello TMC.  I'm a brand new member and a bit of a rookie, but I'm looking for information or a recommendation on someone who could inspect a used Malibu in the Lake Placid FL area (2 hours south of Orlando).  I live in NH and am interested in the boat and am trying to avoid having to fly down myself, so obviously I'm looking to hire someone to go through it, check compression etc. in hopes of buying the boat and having it transported up north.  Any suggestions and or recommendations on an individual would be greatly appreciated.  TIA.

Hey Guys...

I'm still on the site and in the Orlando area.  Many life changes since I sold my boat in 2012.  I mostly just check in here for the meme thread.  Not much to offer advice wise on Malibu boats otherwise.

I don't think I am the one to inspect a boat these days, especially given the 'specs' of compression testing, etc.  I don't have a compression gauge and wouldn't want to get that 'intimate' with a strangers boat.  And certainly wouldn't do it for hire.

Thanks for remembering and thinking of me, @justgary  Hope you and yours are doing well.

Thanks for checking in.  I hope you are well also.  Not too much boating for me, either, but I still hold on to hope.

Mostly I figured that you know a dealership or mechanic that might do the job.

NH Guy here also. I have bought boats out of state before. If you cant find someone to to look at the boat can I suggest taking it to the local marina and getting a look over. Might cost a few bucks but that's better then the alternative. Possibly even the seller split 50/50 with you unless you buy it.

Also if your trying to find a local boat look at the pre-owned at Eastcoast Flightcraft. There have been a lot of trades in on new boats the past 2 months. Talk to Jason in sales.

Let me know when your on the water in NH
