Malibu Sportster - Monsoon 340 - Gauges Acting Up?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've had this 05 Sportster EFI with a 340 Monsoon for a few months, and after a quick ride, turning the engine off, then turning back on, the gauges would not stop moving all the way back and forth across each gauge. This persisted in neutral and riding around for some time.

It eventually went away but would love to know what this means as I couldn't find a similar thread. Thanks in advance!

I would start by checking your ground connections, and battery connections.  It looks like the gauges are getting intermittent power, and are continually going through the power up cycle.

That is what the gauge test sequence does.  Normally to perform the test, you have to use the display rocker switch to select Lake Temp, then hold the rocker down for 3 seconds to initiate the test.  The test will show all LCD display segments and sweep the gauge needles low, mid, and high twice before returning to normal.  Maybe a stuck rocker switch or cross circuit wiring?
