Leaking ballast pump

Recommended Posts

Howdy howdy,

I discovered a leaking ballast pump in my forward bilge area, see photo. It seems to be leaking right at the bottom where it goes through the hull but only really leaks once the ballast tank is full (maybe added back pressure?). Is this an easy fix, maybe a fitting I can tighten, or does this need to go to the dealership? Brand new A24, just don’t want to lose a week on the water…

Thanks!

Unless it leaks more than a gallon per hour you shouldn't really worry about it.  If the threaded base of the ballast pump or shutoff valve is leaking, then the pump and valve can be removed, coat the threads with Permatex 59235 thread sealant, and then reinstall them.

Thanks, I will probably address it with the 50 hour service since we are already half way there. Appreciate the help
