2007 medallion info screen not turning on.

Recommended Posts

My 2007 Malibu VTX medallion info screen would not come on while out today. I have had it take a few minutes before but never had it just not come on. It took about 20 minutes of riding last time before coming on but once on it did fine so I didn’t think much of it. Even though the screen is off it is still controlling the speed. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting.

For testing does anyone know if the screen is supposed to come in when the key is in the on position? I cannot remember.

Thanks so much for the article link.

It started working again after I jiggled the plug but I have no idea if that was just coincidental. Do you remember how you went about getting the screen out? Seems almost impossible to get to from the bottom.

To remove the dash, take out the two screws in the Malibu emblem. There is also a screw going upward just above the cruise control screen.

I had the same screen go out in my 08 Response.  As stated above you can remove the whole dash via the three screws circled in red in the first picture below.  The second picture is the dash lying flat and seen from the back with the black box in the foreground being the screen unit seen from the back and with the backs of the circular temp, fuel, and oil pressure gauges seen below it.

After fiddling with it a bit I could not get it working so I called Medallion and they sent me a new unit which is easy enough to switch out by just unclipping the wire cluster and plugging into the new unit and the screwing everything back in.  The third picture shows the part number which for mine was on the side of the screen unit.  When I talked to Medallion the current replacement part has a different number but they were able to cross reference based on the old number and send me the right one.  It is functionally identical and looks the same.  As I recall was not terribly expensive ... nothing like the horror stories Ive heard about the later generation digital screens that go out.

Thanks all, took the boat out yesterday and all seemed to work well so maybe somehow the plug got a little loose, but I am thinking about ordering the new screen so I don't get in a pinch this summer.  Any ideas on lead time from medallion?
