Can bus disconnect

Yesterday I had the can bus disconnect warning pop up then could not start the boat. Then after ten minutes or so it finally started. I’m also having service immediately warning popping up on the screen. Any ideas? 2013 vlx

Low system voltage or loose/corroded connections causing a voltage drop are the most likely causes.

Indeed.  The engine harness connector is a great place to look for a bad connection.  This could include crud or a pushed/bent pin (especially if someone recently did some service on the engine).

Cool thanks so instead of looking screen related wiring start in the engine compartment?

Start with the battery condition and connections.  Check battery power and ground connections at the engine and check the boat to engine harness plug.

Does anyone know also if this happens on the water and you can’t start is there anyway to start the boat other than the screen?

I have fought the can bus problem on my 2013. If I remember correctly, I could always start the boat with the key, but I wouldn’t have full functionality or telemetry.  I also had to power off the boat to shut the engine off.  It would not have left me stranded though.
