USB for stereo 13’ 247 LSV

The bluetooth quality in my boat doesn’t seem great, so I was hoping to connect my phone via a cord to get better clarity.  I assume that the USB port in the glovebox is the one I should use, but when I pug into it, my stereo screen flashes “USB RD” and I can’t get any sound.

Any help is appreciated.

The factory stereo USB will only support a USB thumb drive with MP3 files.  The round connector near it has an iPhone adaptor cord available that should support iPhone 4 or earlier and the iPod classic, iPod 5th gen, and some iPod touch/nano/shuffle.  There should also be a 3.5mm aux audio connection headphone style connector.
