Rear Camera

I know there’s a few threads on the rear camera but there doesn’t seem to be much info. I’m looking for info on where it actually hooks up under the helm. I’m not finding anything labeled for the camera. Any info would be great. I have a 2023.

A camera wasn’t an option for me and I’m looking to add if possible. The dash has the ability to turn on front and rear cameras, I am just not see anything where I would plug in.

Mine was under the helm, but I had to remove the storage container under the  back rest cusion in the bow and come in from the bow. It was sitting their all very well labeled. Let me know if you need clear instructions. It was a very easy install.

both plugs are in the same location, ie for front and rear camera. They connect under the helm but you need to enter from the bow, buy removing the storage container.

Interesting. So on my LX my bow is all ballast. When I remove the cushions it’s fiberglass, no storage under the cushions. But I should see it by removing the Subwoofer under the helm, right?

sorry I don't mean the seat bases, i mean the seat back . Does the bow seat back lift up? If not, you may need to go behind the sub.

It does not flip up. Looks like that will be another project.  The fiberglass has a cut out for it to be accessed if the seat flipped up. I’ll look at other boats when I take mine in for the recall. I’ll remove the sub and look further. Thanks for your help.

Other newer VLX boats I have worked on do not have the flip-up seat backrest on the starboard bow, but there are two screws at the very bottom of the seat back cushion and two metal tabs that are behind the upper part of the cushion.  Once the two lower screws are removed, the cushion can be slid upwards and removed from the boat to reveal a square access hole to get to the camera wiring.  The power connector and RCA cords are clearly labeled.

I finally got around to looking into this. I removed the sub and was able to find the connections. Time to order the parts. Thanks!

Finally got the rear camera hooked up.

Unfortunately I didn’t realize the 25’ extension is a must when hooking up as it has some kind of power resistor. I hooked up to test the camera without the extension and fried the camera, so make sure you use the extension!

Now onto the bow. The bow mount I have looks like it was for a 1st bow camera, way too big. Does anyone know if the VLX Bow mount is the same as what’s used on the larger boats, like a M240?

I've never installed a bow camera on a 2023 Malibu Wakesetter LX and I'm not sure it was even offered as an option.  Since it uses the same 1/2" bow lifting eye as the 25 LSV or 24 MXZ I would expect the 5824045 camera mount to still fit, but not certain.

That part number is for the older, much larger housing. I need the newer smaller one, do you have that part number?

can I get someone’s hull number who has the newer style bow camera?
