Indmar 350 block drain plug replacement

Recommended Posts

During Winterization this year it was difficult to get a wrench on the drain plug on each side.  The nut has rounded off over the years a bit.  So I purchased the updated 2 piece replacement.  One pieces seems to be brass.  Questions is:  Do I need to use any thread seal or tape for the brass to block or the metal to brass screw?  Trying to avoid leak.  Thanks in advance.  Pic below.

Teflon tape and/ or never seize will not hurt anything. I installed a pressure gage into the drain hole once and measured a maximum of only 7 psi.

At first I was a little surprised by that number, but after thinking about it, the raw water pump and circulation pump are busy forcing water into the block.  The main exit is the thermostat, which is a restriction.
