VLX & Skylon Swoop Tower Storage

Afternoon Crew,

I have an '03 VLX with the Skylon Swoop Tower. I moved to a new house that has a carport that the boat can fit into if the tower is dropped. However, I don't know who is familiar with the swoop tower but when it's dropped the front legs stick awkwardly up way above the windshield. This here is my problem.

How can I cover the boat? If I got a cover made to go up and over I would be concerned the entire weight of the cover would be on those two "points" (ends of the tower legs) and would ultimately rip the cover, but I don't want to have to remove the entire tower (I'd need to make a pulley system or some sort and add disconnects to the speaker wiring). I can't get a cover under the dropped tower either as the top of the tower rests on the back seats when folded.

I had a Swoop before it was damaged this year and replaced it.

Put the cover on, then lower the tower.  If you don't want it resting on the tower, use a ratchet strap to keep it from going all the way down.

So you basically have the cover in between the tower and then drop the tower (so the tower is not covered)? If I do that the tower will want to sit on the back sinks and sink in the cover i would imagine.

Are you saying use a ratchet strap from the rafters to the tower to hold it up slightly?

Yes, no cover over the tower.  You could ratchet to the rafters, or ratchet to the arms attached to the hull to the tower itself - whatever is easiest to make it not sit on the cover.
