09 Tower light mux switch

We have a 2009 lsv and are adding tower lights. I found the white and the white/black wire under the dash. But I can't get either one to activate a relay, with the mux providing the ground for the relay. I get the lights to turn on when I send a ground to the relay to verify the rest of the wiring.  When I press the button to cycle front-rear-all it returns to off after only 1 second or so. Did I do something wrong or miss a step somewhere? Is there a work around?

If I recall, the ignition must be on for the tower light relays to work.   Likely a safety feature to keep them from accidentally turning on during the day and killing the battery.

Thank you! That was my problem. I had changed my stereo off the key switch and thought the tower lights would work like the rest of the lighting,  with the key off. Got it working, now to clean up and finish the install.
