2021 20VTX prop advice question and experience.

Recommended Posts

I’ve had my 2021 20VTX with an M5 engine, 2 summers now.  Early in I added rear PNP bags and switched the ACME General purpose prop to the OJ 950 for wakesurfing.

I never realized how much this prop helped until I bent the 950 today.  Going back to the General purpose I could no longer build a wave like before.  With the OJ, I could push 3600 RPM and run almost full ballast & PNP with a group of 8.   The ACME 1941 general purpose (I think) could only run at 3100 RPM, and I had to leave the extra PNPs empty to get to 10.7 mph.   Basically ruining our surfing fun.

I’m going to get the OJ 950 repaired, but I’m considering buying the ACME 2247 as an additional prop.  Wakemakers recommends the 950, and the 2247 for low speed performance.

we also slalom behind this boat, and the OJ 950 prop has been fine for skiing also.

1.  any opinions on the ACME 2247 vs the OJ 950 or other props for the 2021 VTX?

I’m in ohio at low elevation, but having to power to make a big wave has me wondering if we would have liked the M6 engine more for the wave making.  Although the  extra motor weight may have made the slalom wave bigger (harder to deal with)?
