Surfgate issue

Recommended Posts

Went out today and right surfgate no longer functioning.  Won’t open in service mode.   Won’t calibrate.  Disconnected the batteries any help?

Check the surfgate breaker (or inline fuse depending on if it is an early or late model 2016), check the surfgate actuator wiring connectors, and see if you can verify if the relays are energizing in the the six pack relay box.  Swapping the port and starboard actuator connectors may help narrow down where the problem is.

Can you hear the starboard actuator run while using the calibration or service after turning on the battery.  Unplugging the port actuator or enlisting some help while testing may make it easier to see if the starboard actuator is running at all.

I will give that a try.  Thanks so much for your help.   Will post result    Wish I knew exactly where all of those components are.  Will continue researching until I verify.   Really don’t want to swap out the actuator if I don’t have to.  Relay would be worse. If I could even get one. Won’t be able to try for a few days.  Had to leave boat at the lake

In 2016 the location of the surf gate components was sometimes different as some changes were made, but became more standardized by 2017.

The most common location for the breakers and relay box is in the starboard rear storage compartment, behind the large carpeted L-shaped panel near the hatch gas lift.  There are two screws on the top of the panel and one screw way down on the bottom.  On some boats, I have seen the relay box and 40 amp inline fuses mounted in the engine compartment on the transom near the blower motor.

Got it sorted out.  Took a bit. Actuator dead.  Got new.  Different fitting.  It now comes with watertight fighting attached.  Need to remove old fitting screw pattern same.   Any suggestions.  Thanks y’all
