Water Ski roof rack options (snow ski rack)

Has anyone used roof racks designed for snow skis with their water ski? Have a situation where we will be using different boats in different locations to water ski so cannot transport in the boat. Has anyone done this on short or long trips to clear up cabin space for passengers? The boots are obviously larger (higher resistance and noise), but other than that don't see why they wouldn't work. Something like this. Thoughts?

I have friends that would do that with skis and boards, but were generally pretty short trips.  If they're not bagged, they're liable to be covered with bugs.  A better solution is to get a roof box - better protection from the elements, better security, quieter on wind noise....  The only caveat is, don't leave your carbon ski in a closed up roof box in the blazing sun, but that should go without saying.  And if you're a downhill skier, it pulls year round duty.  Ours is literally on and off the roof every week, as I put it on anytime we're heading down to the ski team site and need extra passenger room.
