It is removeable, and the previous owner didn't want any gelcoat stress cracks. it seems fine without but he was concerned and did not want to take the chance. it does not rattle or move excessively without it. I put it back up because it is beyond rock solid with it up, and who knows, it just may attract a "Mermaid or Two" lol

Don't hesitate to try a Ski-Ray outboard either. Equivalent to the MC.

I ended up back to my Inboard roots and comfort zone, and got a Sanger DXII

More I looked and the more I thought about it, the outboards just were not going to make me feel comfortable.
