Keeping boat at a marina in water

Instead of trailering the boat to the lake I want to rent a slip at a marina. There will not be a lift so the boat will be in the water. I looked at serveral marinas in my are and I did not see any wake boats stored like this. Besides the scum lines, are there any concerns storing a Malibu boat in the water for the summer?

It is doable and definitely convenient. Whether or not it works for you depends on how clean you want to keep your boat and how many meth heads are running around thieving.   Plus the meaning of “Rode hard and put up wet” is different for all of us.

I had a sailboat for a few years I kept in the water. It was too big to trailer, but keeping it in the water was a lot of work between checking on the bilge pump, the dock lines and seeing what got stolen.

You have lots of potential issues. Leaks, weather beaten, theft, storm damage, but most is probably getting blisters on the gel coat. You may be able to do a search using the above search and use "blisters" and see what thats all about. It may or may not be an issue for you vs. the convenience.

Whats the year, condition, etc. of your boat?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I have not bought a boat yet but planning on it soon. I did not know about blisters so it looks like leaving it in the water is not an option. I still find it ironic that water can affect the gel coat.

You could leave it on the lake but pull it out several times a month for cleaning and dry out, or leave it in the water all summer and have it cleaned and repaired over the winter.   It all depends on your preferences and what level of maintenance deferral your comfortable with.
