Transmission temp

Recommended Posts

Will the transmission get up to operating temp, hot enough to get an accurate level reading, while being flushed? I know the pump is moving fluid, but without it being in gear will it ever heat up? To get an accurate level, I've always checked it while out on the river. Get it up to operating temp, shut it down and immediately check the fluid level before the fluid drains out of the cooling lines. Can this be done in the backyard? I plan on scribing a line this year when I get the level right, for a cold level check. I meant to do it last year and always forgot.

IMHO I doubt the trans would ever get up to operating temp while in the driveway. I would just take it to the lake, check it there, and then check it again when it's level and cold in the driveway.
