REV12 Tower Speaker

Five Cent Worth

Recommended Posts

I commented about it and a guy said he’s held them and heard them. Idk how much truth there is to that. I’m assuming the new WS ZERO line that’s coming out is shallow mount subs/speakers

Not WS i havent seen it

BUT Kicker makes an 11" horn tower speaker that has good reviews and about the same price as Rev 8s

curious about the kicker brand..may get some 9s

My.

Buddy had the Kicker 11’s on his boat that he sold. They were solid. With that said, I feel the Rev10’s sound much better!  Maybe it is tuning. YMMV

While sound is always suggestive,  other things like wattage, tuning, source quality and listening environment, which can impact the results, may not always be in our control. A larger driver almost always has an acoustical and volume advantage over a smaller driver, there is a tradeoff when it comes to tower pods. As the driver gets larger, it wants more air space inside. The challenge is making the pod large enough to gain the benefits of the larger driver, but how big are we willing make that pod. Be cool to how the challenges are handled is something larger ever came to market.

This is why I have always preferred the sound of the 485 \ 410 over the singles.

true heard the kicker has wider rang ie bit more bass ranges vs the WS are full on crystal clear  highs etc..so it depends on the music and the person purchasing  to how they would like the sound.

The rev 12’s are supposed to have less hanging distance than the current rev 10’s. Meaning more headroom if hung from a tower.

wonder how that’ll work with malibu tower mounting.

2" larger dia and 35% more speaker surface are, yeah, id expect a 12" speaker to hang lower then a 10".

My bad, I meant a lesser hanging distance. They will actually not hang down as much as a current rev 10.

Does anybody think wetsouds would ever get rid of the rev10's?

Probably not. One of (if not) their best selling products. They might end up discontinuing the original “rev 10” And work on improving it, though I don’t see them ditching the 10” horn driven tower any time soon.

They also have done improvements but have not made it know through even the rev 10 production line. I know they went from a metal basket to a synthetic basket mid-bass and probably more changes then that have been made throughout the years.

Would be cool if they actually renamed the products with different versions when they make these changes. Kinda like how JL does v2, v3, etc. That way they maintain the Rev10 branding but get credit for making it better so guys like me don’t just assume it hadn’t changed in 10 years.

I completely agree. The midbass drivers are not interchangeable in the housings. I found that out when replacing one of my mid Bass drivers.
