Better Bimini for G3?

Recommended Posts

I'm buying a new G3 tower for next summer and will be purchasing a Bimini.  My question for the group, is there a better Bimini to purchase than the "stock" G3?

We really enjoyed our Z5 Bimini/board rack on the 2013 with a G3. Pretty sure you can't purchase them anymore though.

My opinion is! I have never messed with a Malibu supplied GL Bimini so I can’t opine on that one. I have only ever had a CS Bimini on my 2010 and now my 2019. For coverage and ease of use the CS has been infinitely easier to use than any other Bimini that I have owned. Matter of fact, I constantly hear from my friends how the Supra and Centurion Bimini’s are a timely PITA to put up and take down. The older style on the 2010 was pretty simple except wrestling with the 2 front pole extensions for the larger optioned Bimini I had. The rear hoop had to flip forward to stow it which was really sketchy on a windy day. Otherwise a simple concept. The newer CS style on my ‘19 is a little more involved and has a couple problems though. The pivot bolts don’t like to stay tight, Loctite or not. Once they get loose it is a real pain to stow. Most likely because I use the heck out of it. The internal composite guides don’t provide a linear path for the Bimini to follow when it gets stowed so the poles make metal pole on metal guide housing contact. Once stowed the upper poles rested on the aluminum housing making a constant clanking noise and were wearing out the housing. I fixed that by installing HDPE slider plates. I really like the ease of use and it provides great coverage which is another thing my friends like about it. It could use some refinement, but definitely a must have in my book. JM2C

I second this. Have loved the CS biminis we have had. I leave it up most of the time, but when I do take it down and put it up for travel it is not a pain in my opinion. I haven't seen my pivot bolts loosen, but it could be because mine stays deployed more. I would order it again without second thought.
