2012 23LSV 6.2 LSA Raw water pump removal, (not impeller replacement)

I changed the impeller for the first time since I purchased last summer and now the pump has a fairly rapid leak. The new cap seal is good and not leaking, but I can see an o-ring on the visible part of the shaft in between the brass opening and I think the water is coming from there and down onto the pulley. Do I have to remove tension on that pulley to remove the pump and pulley or just the 3 bolts and the pump will be separate? Sorry in advance if his is covered somewhere already, but I couldn’t find info on my engine setup..

Awesome thanks!
Anyone have info on replacing the seal or o rings in the pump or do I just get a new one?

It is probably best to get a new one since the bearing may be compromised.  I have used a 2005-2009 Volvo Penta sea pump seal to replace the seal on the Indmar pumps because it is very similar.  Also, because both pumps are both made by SPX Johnson and Volvo has parts breakdowns for the pump and Indmar does not, but they are not identical.

About four posts down from yours is a discussion about changing the seals in a water pump.  You can't miss it.

That was fast!

Save your old one, replace the seals, and it will be ready for the next time.

My pump is a different make but I guess the same applies. I removed it and it has a bit of bearing play..

it’s a Sierra International, part # 18-3587-1

That looks like a direct knock-off of a Johnson pump.  I bet it has the same parts in it.

I’m thinking the same thing. Having trouble verifying though.

Both bearings and seals are sold by ID, OD, and thickness.  Measure what you have and buy replacements.
