Extreme trailer light upgrade....

Has anyone replaced their 06 Extreme trailer clarence lights at the front step plate on the wheel wells. The 07's use the tail light led's at this location now rather than the little clearance lights. I want to do it, but can't use a plasma, because of heat and am afraid what ever I do is going to burn paint. Just want to see if someone has done this mod yet.

If you do decide, a plasma is your best bet. Plasmas use electricity as a heat source therefore, the heat is almost instataneous.

I have used a plasma on too many ocassions to mention, and know that paint will bubble and peel up to a 1/4" from the intial cut. Thats why I was asking, becasue I don't know how the paint on the extreme trailers reacts to plasma heat (even as minimal heat as plasma is). I probably should just try enlaring a exsisting hole in the trailer for light wires and see how it reacts and measure it. I do agree with you that Plasma is probably going to be better than a cut-off wheel and die grinder combo. Especially seeing how the plate is 3/16"-1/4" thc. Screw it I'm going for it, thanks for the encouragment, if something goes wrong I know who to blame..... LOL JK. I had no problem cutting the floor out of my 97 S10 and then raising it, with 20K miles on it, but cutting on my 8K dollar trailer is much harder, I really don't understand what happend to me. I inserted a picture of my S10 so you understand what I am talking about....

Yup...take a drop hitch, turn it over and mount the ball on the topside. Innocent.gif

I've heard of a hitch drop, but have never seen a hitch raiser, are they easy to come by?

So was I ROFL.gif

Thanks...I was kidding...

Everyone has heard of raising the floor to bodydrop a vehicle. How do you think it lays body, rather than frame. And yes the hitch was raised on it as well, and thats no joke.

Good luck, remember I suggested it was your best bet, not the solution.

Daman,

If you are using air tools for your die grinder and cutoff wheels you can keep water on the cut to keep from burning your paint. I wouldn't try it with an electric tool though. Show us how it turns out.

I have a few more weeks before its time to ride again, so I got to get in what I can
