'06 Sunscape 21 LSV HELP!

Hi folks, apologize if this is a repeat question, I did do a search but didn't find a definitive answer.

I am contemplating a purchasing a '06 Sunscape 21 LSV, - low hours, immaculate condition etc.   Upgrading from a 1990 Supra Mariah, that I've actually been able to set-up to surf really well (believe it or not!?) The sunscape has the diamond hull which is attractive to me as I still really enjoy slalom, but want to make sure the kids can still surf.  I tried the boat out yesterday, and moved my set-up from my 1990 Supra.  My bags probably ended up being around 500-600lbs in the starboard locker and 400-500lbs in the port locker (estimated - bags aren't shaped for those lockers).  I threw on our Swell 2.0 gate  and I couldn't get a good, surfable wave.  I did not have the wedge engaged, I forgot - not sure what difference that makes?

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.  I love the boat, but want to make sure I cover my bases on the surf capability.

Thanks for the help all!

I believe you can get that boat to surf just fine, but you will need more ballast. Like a bow bag, something mid boat. I think those boats have a floor ski locker that you can put a bag in? And maybe more rear ballast. It’s going to take some experimentation.
