Phase 5 MVP Board Size Advice

I am looking to get  a new board.  I want to get a Phase 5 MVP.  I am 5'6" and weigh 153 (give or take).  Based on the board specs, the 50" board works for 5'1"-5'11" and a max of 170 lbs.  The 53" board works for 5'3"-6'1" and max of 200 lbs.  I currently ride a 53" Model X with a 1" skim fin.  My ability right now is intermediate at best.  I like the MVP for a few reasons.  One of the main reasons is the shorter board at 50".  I feel like this would help me handle the board better.  I also know the 53" is going to be a little more stable just because it is bigger.  What would anybody suggest for size on this board?  I do not have the ability to demo these boards.  Nobody around me sells Phase 5.  If they do, they don't have any inventory.

50" board.  Always buy a board where you are close to the max weight.  No board knows how tall you are.
