Service Engine Warning - Active Code Below

Recommended Posts

2010 Wakesetter

Getting this warning.  "Service Engine Soon" Within 1 minute engine starts and about every 5 minutes after that.

Active Code:  SPN:7227  FMI:5 02 2/1 -- Current Below Normal or Open Circuit

Oil pressure and temp are normal range.

Assume this is a loose connector.  Can anyone help me find it?

If not that, any other ideas?

Thanks.

I can't find code SPN 7227, but SPN 3227 FMI 5 is for the bank 2 pre-cat O2 sensor on your port side exhaust.

It can be caused by a coked / dirty O2 sensor, a faulty O2 sensor, or a wiring or connection problem from the sensor to the ECM.

If the sensor is dirty you can run the boat unloaded above 4000 RPM for 10 or 15 minutes to clean it out, or you can remove it and clean it by hand with some carb cleaner.

A common troubleshooting technique is to remove the O2 sensor and swap it with the one on the other exhaust manifold to see if you keep getting the SPN 3227 code.  If you get a SPN 3217 code after swapping the sensors, then the sensor is likely bad.  If you continue to get the SPN 3227 code, then there is likely a wiring or ECM issue.
