Hard time with blue sea 7610

Recommended Posts

Having a very hard time pinpoint the problem here..

Had a perfectly fine setup working last summer, my blue sea 7610 is in between engine battery and my solar auxiliary battery bank. (No ignition wiring)

I stored my rig for winter and now batteries won't combine (fast blink) and would indicate a low voltage on either battery bank which is not the case..

when I unhook the engine battery I loose the blink, but when I pull it off the auxiliary bank the blink remains...

Auxiliaries are brand new and above perfect and engine battery seems to hang just below 12.6v so the blink has to indicate something else cant figure out what... any ideas ?

Having a hard time understanding your setup, but I think I understand it...solar charger on AUX battery bank, and starter battery on alternator, with ACR in between?

Things to note:

  1. Fast blink means the ACR is detecting one or both banks below 9.5 volts, and results in an undervoltage lockout
  2. To automatically combine (contactor closes), the ACR needs to sense 13.6 volts for 30 seconds or 13.0 volts for 2 minutes (and at least 10 volts on secondary bank.)
  3. Conversely, if the ACR senses 12.35 volts for 10 seconds or 12.75 volts for 30 seconds, the contactor will open

Given that, some questions:

  • When you say engine battery hangs at 12.6 volts, is that with engine running or off?
  • What is the system voltage 2 minutes after engine start?
  • Are the "solar batteries" being charged when this is happening?  Unless the solar panels are under the control of a good regulator, you could also have an overvoltage lockout condition.  I would consider isolating the solar charger anytime the engine is running.

If your batteries are indeed good on voltage (~12 volts with no power on, >13.6 engine running) then the wiring is suspect.  I would remove all connections and clean.

I would check the ground for the ACR's controller. Is it good and is it on the correct terminal? If the ground is good and there is proper battery voltage on the A and B terminals, then this would point to an issue with the controller.
