Gas spilling out!

Had a bit of a dilemma yesterday. I had filled the boat up and taken her out but not as long as I would have liked so she was still full of gas. After pulling the boat out I usually drive up our drive way which is really steep and leave it sat on the slope so when I pull the rear plug it drains everything out real good while I wash it.

I was in the boat installing LED's and I kept smelling gas. I looked in the engine and under the rear lockers but nothing.

A neighbour came over and climbed up on the trailer step at the back of the boat and got covered in gas as it poured out of the overflow vent. It had been coming out for a while and was spilling all down the side and round the back of the boat. I rushed to back the boat down the drive and washed all the gas off it.

Lucky she wasn't smoking at the time, Very scary!!! Shocking.gif

But at least it got rid of the water spots! ;)

When the gas warms up, it has to expand somehow. If you leave the boat at an angle, where the vent line, is below the fuel level, you'll get gas out the vent.

That is just the way it is

Everytime I get the boat out I discover something new. It's incredible!
