First off, hello to all on the Board. I am new to the board and this is my first Post.

I found this board from a link off Malibu's web site.

I used to own a 70's vintage Glastron, handed down from my Grandfather. It was a nice boat, but the little 4cyl had a tough time getting water skiiers out of the water. Not impossible mind you, just difficult. I ended up selling this boat to a neighbor (for fishing purposes).

So my wife and started looking around the Bay Area for a replacement. I water ski and my daughter wake boards, so we were looking for a cross over boat. I first started looking at Inboard/Outboard configs (since that is what I knew) and found most of the boats we liked to be in the 33K price range. I liked the Chapp and my wife liked Sea Ray.

After going back and forth, my wife spotted a 21 Xti wakesetter and she told me that is boat she wanted. Looking at the price, I was almost in shock, since the 07 was about 30K more than the boats we were looking at. So, I told her if we are going to spend this kind of money, we have better be sure we get the boat we want. So we look at Correct Craft, Master Craft and Ski Supreme (The big names close to the bay area).

The Master Craft X1 was a no go because my wife's exact words were, "It looks like a pimpmobile". The Ski Supreme seemed like a V hull created for the Walmart crowd with a Nordstroms price. The Correct Craft was nice and very on par with the Malibu, but my wife just liked the layout and colors of that 21 Xti.

Please understand, the statements above are only based on looking at the boat. I have no idea how the above boats perform or what kind of wake they can put off.

So then there was the price. Aye Cahrumba.

The Salesman then pulled a dirty trick and said he had a 06 21 Xti with the same color's and options that he would sell us for 41,500 + 4,500 for the Extreme Tandem trailer. All it took was a test drive at Anderson...

So now we are proud owners of an 06' 21 Xti with the 340 Monsoon and Power Wedge:

I'm glad you didn't post here first asking about an xti, I might have been tempted to sell. I love mine and won't advertise yet, but with twin 1 year old girls moneys getting tight and boat time even tighter so you might have tempted me. I'm hoping to keep mine for a long time. My previous/first malibu I had in my family for 14 years.

Anyway congrats and welcome to the xti world. I love mine and have had great comments from doubters of the direct drive wake board boat and the ski boat with a tower. but after some time on the water I've proven their original guesses all wrong.

fill out more of your profile and your signature so we can get to know you better.

Welcome to the site. I hope you love the new boat. I'm hoping that my next boat is an xti, but I've never even been on one. I like the layout better than a typ. direct drive layout.

Ah, going from a 70's Glastron to an '06 Bou, huge step up. I used to work at a marina that sold Glastrons in the 70's and was drewling over Mastercrafts back then.

I was gonna suggest shoping the used market to save some change. There are nice ones around if you look for a while, but you done good on your own. Now get on the water and put some hours on it.

You should head to the Bou Crew rent-a-lake event this Friday-Sunday, you are close enough, sort of. (Red Bluff)

Edit: By the way, your wife has good tastes and you are a very wise man to listen to her choice. May you be graciously rewarded for your obidence to her wishes. Yahoo.gif
