2013 MXZ 24 Stereo

Recommended Posts

Thatguy85

Hello all,

I bought my 2013 MXZ 24 this year and absolutley love it. However, I did end up blowing two tower speakers and the sub. A couple of questions I have are

1. What 6 x 9's fit into the cans for this year to allow a replacement? How many ohm?

2. My boat is in storage. What size and how many ohms are the stock subs? Any recommendations on subs to purchase?

Thanks in advance.

The tower drivers are 4 ohm. Most marine options will be 4 ohm, but not all. The Wet Sounds Rev696 HLCD and the Kicker PS69 coaxial fit.

A 4 ohm woofer in the 200-400 watt rms range would be a close direct replacement, if you migrated away from the factory rockford marine 12". IMO, the lack of an enclosure behind the factory woofer needs to be addressed. This could have contributed to the failed woofer. One option is to go with a true IB woofer such as the Kicker KMA124 or the Wet Sounds Revo12FA. 2nd option, is to build a proper enclosure and use a woofer best intended to be in a small enclosure. The rockford marine 12 is actually a solid woofer when placed in a proper enclosure with decent wattage and a proper amp tune. My only complaint is its MSRP is a bit high for its power handling class.
