Need to replace my cable.  I think mine is 19ft....but I'm seeing prices all over the place, so I assume they may be different.  Do they will come with the rack?

Which to buy? Where?

Do think it is easier to cut off the rack and pull new cable with it or use a pull rope?

We didn't cut off the old rack when removing, since your pulling the cable thru from that end anyway, it wasn't going to get in the way.  We tied 550 cord (parachute string) thru the bolt eyelet that we disconnected from the rudder and pulled thru from under the helm until the string came thru.

There is one step noted in the article about making sure the old cable is fully retracted before pulling thru that is extremely helpful!  If not, you will fight a lot harder trying to get the longer cable to pull thru the floor cavity opening under the helm since that end is not very flexible.

Good advise.  During cable install, I often use vice grip pliers to clamp the rack teeth in place so the cable stays retracted while pulling it back through with the guide rope.  Also, putting tape on the cable nut will prevent it from sliding down the length of the cable as it is pulled through under the deck.  Believe me when I tell you that it is very frustrating when you have to pull the cable back out just because the nut is somewhere under the deck.
