sun setter fails to accelerate when throttle past 3/4

My 2003 sun setter with Monsoon 355 engine will not accelerate when the throttle is past approximately 3/4 position (speeds of about 35 mph)  It runs fine otherwise but  slows when the throttle is moved past this position sometimes feeling like it wants to bog down. . Throttling back actually can result in increased speed.  I recently had the distributor cap replaced.  Any thoughts as to the cause of this would be appreciated.

Fuel pressure is a good place to start. Check that at different rpm and see if you have any difference.  Throttle position sensor ? Those are cheap.
