2014 Malibu Touch Screen Bubble

Recommended Posts

TC_2006_VLX

I have a question regarding the lower touch screen on a 2014 Malibu MXZ. There is what looks to be a bubble forming in the upper left portion of the screen. The dealer alleges this is "normal and happens all the time". I on the other hand think this is sketch especially with the warranty running out and those screens costing like 2k! What are your thoughts on do I get into a p!ssing match to get it replaced or just trust the dealer that this defect is legit...

Very common thing - I would get it replaced for sure.  If I remember right it causes the screen to stop responding.  My 2015 hasn't has the issue yet and I hope it doesn't.

Ill agree with everyone's thoughts on this. I picked up a used 2013 from a dealership, I asked about the bubbles, and the first guy said it should be OK, and the bubbles were common. After the water test, they called and said that the screen needed to be replaced. it isn't intuitive, but the screen was not working in areas where the screen's integrity seemed to be ok, i.e. the bubble was in the top left, but some of the options on the bottom right of the screen were not working consistently.

Ok- getting the ball rolling on a new screen. Apparently they are like 2k if you dont get it under warranty.... OUCH!
