Perko Latch Replacement

Recommended Posts

Hoping someone can help me out with this...

Unfortunately my dropped the rear hatch door and it broke the Perko latch.  I purchased two spares just for this purpose but for the life of me I can't seem to get the broken one loose and out of the hatch door.  Is there a trick to this?  I understand there is a plastic nut that threads onto the latch.  Is there a way to grab onto this without a special tool?  I have tried channel locks but they don't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you have a new one, just use a screwdriver and a hammer to spin the nut loose.  Pretty sure that is what I did when I had a hatch re-skinned

Might help to spray it first with some PB Blaster or other penetrating oil.
