Raising Seat (2003 Response LXi)

The seat has a flip up bolster, but I want to be able to sit on it with the cushion down, and not feel like I'm sitting on the floor.  Not sure what this piece of steel is called, but it's a galvanized channel, about 1 3/4" square.  A buddy of mine (who builds bridges) has quite a bit of it laying around, so I borrowed a 2' piece and cut the ends at an angle to that they fit on the rail and still maintain a full hole on the top.  Used steel wool on the sides to make it look a bit nicer, but you really can't see it, unless you are laying on the floor.  Just needed 3" bolts to replace the 1" ones that were on there, and it's good to go.  Doesn't sound like much, but it's a noticeable improvement, until I think of something better.  The factory piece is screwed down right over the flat carpet.  It would be pretty easy to just put a solid block of material under the rails.

My bench is an embarrassment.  Not usually this much of a mess.

Used a Dremel to cut it up.

Cleaned up and painted the sliders while I had them off.  Rust has been flaking off and staining the carpet.

Satisfied with the way it turned out.

That's a galvanized "B-Line" or pipe support. They sell it in Stainless304 or 316. I've seen a lot of galvanized B-Line that starts to rust. So if you see new rust stains in 5+years you'll know what from.

Good to know.  Thanks for the heads up.

Pls excuse my bad manners. I think it looks great and I would do the same thing because I wouldn't want the old guys (me included) to sit on the floor. It's one of the small gripes I have about the hard core ski boats-responses. Sitting on the floor.

They also make it in a higher profile too, to get it further off the floor.

But I love the ski wakes.

That is a good idea.  I just put the tossable life preserver square under my a** if I want to sit up.  Seeing as I don't have a Sears catalog in the boat.

2010 still too low.

Did a similar fix like the OP, just used a rectangular HDPE sheet cut to fit between the seat and the rails. That added maybe 3/4 Inch in seat height. Couldn't go any higher because my wife (and designated driver) at 6'2" sits pretty tall and would have the windshield frame in her vision when driving.

How did you remove the seat? I would like to raise my seat also but can't figure out how to remove it?
