"Service Required" warning but no codes

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 V Ride with a 330 LCR engine in it.  After a fresh set of plugs and oil change, I took it out for the first run of the season.  When I have the key in the on position the Maliview screen reads "Service Required" but only when the key is on...  if the engine is running it doesnt display anything.  No active or logged codes appear in the set-up screen either.  I ran most of the weekend with this scenario.  The boat ran great.

Two possible ideas I have...

1.  When I was warming the engine up connected to the garden hose, it was not "sucking" enough water.  When I noticed it, the temp was about 200F and I shut it down.  It never alarmed.  Could the temp have continued to increase after the shutdown and triggered a code that is not showing as a logged code on Maliview?

2.  When I changed plugs I bought AC Delco 43-993's.  The factory plugs where AC Delco 41-101's.  Could the boat be doing an electrical check with the key in the "on" position and doesnt like the new plugs?

Based on the performance of the boat over the weekend and the fact that the warning never comes on when the boat is running, I have a hard time believing there is anything to wrong.  Is there a way to clear the message and see if it returns?

Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated

IIRC on my '10 "350" Monsoon, the service required code has to do with emissions i.e. the O2 sensor. Your 330 may be different, the owners manual should have that info. I doubt the temp rise had anything to do with a code being thrown unless you had a catastrophic failure. If it isn't in the fault history it wasn't a big deal to the computer, not yet anyway. The difference on the plugs would only be heat range and plug depth if I am not mistaken and the computer won't know the difference unless it is running. Both being gapped the same I doubt there would be but an imperceptible change unless the changes were done on some high strung race engine. If you disconnect an O2 sensor, crank it up, shut it off and go into the faults screen you should see a specific fault code for that sensor. Best case call up the parts department and see what they say. JM2C
