Can someone tell me which would be a better boat to mainly surf behind?  I'm looking at a '00 WS23LSV and a '05 WS VLX.  Both have balast systems.  Thanks for helping out a noob!

The 2005 VLX is 1" wider and 6" deeper per the specs in the resources section, http://www.themalibucrew.com/index.php?/malibu_specs.html/&advanced_search_submitted=1&csrfKey=254cbc52a1972ddcc9c02ab0aee045e6&content_field_96[1]=2005&&&&&sortby=primary_id_field&sortdirection=desc&record_type=all&time_frame=show_all

The deeper draft will make it a little easier to not dip the bow when picking up your surfers after they fall.  But, it really all depends on just how much room you need inside the boat for the amount of people you normally take out.  Now if you can find an '04+ LSV, that would be better than the '05 VLX since in 04, the LSV hull changed to the deeper draft and has the 100" beam.

The deeper draft also lets you fit 1100 pound bags in the rear lockers - vs 750s in the older boats.
