So hypotbetically dealer has 2016 23 lsv for 90k, i have 2016 23 lsv for 95k.  It would be cheaper to buy mine at 95k and no tax vs. 90k + 8.3% sales tax at the dealer.   

This is where you have to have the more desireable boat.

Wisconsin is the same way.  MN will waive the taxes on a private sale or credit you towards your trade in value.

I'm in rolla mo but boat on Norfork lake in Northern Arkansas.  Perfect catch marine is my dealer since they service the lake.  They have been trying to fix my Brand new M235 for the past 3 weeks.  Mystery service code.  Hopefully this week.  Water testing keeps getting delayed by the massive flooding.

Making progress on my Exile build...

Malibu made some subtle changes to the 2017's that I wasn't anticipating, all of which have cost me extra time...

1) They changed the location and configuration of the amp board mounting blocks. Instead of two horizontal blocks now you get one horizontal and one vertical block, set way way over to the left (see pic below). Of course I built my amp rack at home (away from boat) using my usual dimensions, only to find out it wasn't a great fit anymore. So I had to do some surgery on the board to make it fit and think through a different strategy for mounting it.  Measure twice, cut once.  Lol, whoops  

2) This has been discussed before but the G3.x tower is no longer prewired for speakers. That was fun. Still not outta the woods yet.  What a PITA.  Malibu definitely sticking it to the DIY crowd with this sucker punch  

3) I was also unable to locate speaker wire for the cabin and bow speakers. If they're up there, they're way way way up there hiding in a mess of other wires. In the past the factory speaker wire was easy to find hanging just inside the pre-cut holes. 

4) The 8" speaker holes are slightly smaller this year. I assume they reconfigured them for WS. Anywho, I had to dremel them out a bit to for the Exile 8. That was a first. 

Anyway, here are some pics...

Test fitting the board after surgery (cut 6" off the bottom). Note the location of the mounting blocks and my small black L brackets that I'm using to secure the board to the verticle block. Also note the anchor bolt poking through on the top block. Also note how I plan to mount the board so the ledge below bears some of the weight  

Distribution blocks. I decided to use black for 12v power and blue for ground.  All 4ga cable though two holes this year.  In the past I drilled out eight smaller holes in a row.  Unecessary!

Getting ready to mount an 8 in the cabin. Whoops!  It don't fit!  Note the speaker wires I had to run (four cabins + four bow/walk thru wired in parallel). 

One down, seven to go!  Note the Dremel shrapnel all over the place. Thanks, Bu!

Side note... does anybody know if 25 LSV bow tank is bigger than 23?  Sure seems like it to me!  There's zero dead space around it. Made it a little tougher to run cable and wire, but not too bad  

The 8's are in... can you tell I'm doing this project in the dark?

Getting the amps set up. This is the Exile XM20.1 that will feed 1,600 watts at 2 ohms to my sub

 Bringing it all together, assembling and wiring the amp rack on the floor of the boat (i.e. less time in the death champer) It's like building an engine for the system!  The one on the bottom is an Exile XM15.4. It powers the eight speakers in the cabin, walk thru, and bow. Each will get 112.5 watts at 2 ohms (wired in parallel). 

And then there's these bad boys waiting for their turn to come to the party!

How much time all-in for your builds?  I haven't updated my thread but mine is nearly complete and took at least 2x as much time as I was planning.

Idk... I don't really count the hours and I don't power through them all at once. I have a day job and a family and a million other things competing for my time. So I work on it little bit at a time. Also, it's not like I'm working in a professional shop. Then boat isn't even at my house so there's a lot of wasted time running back and forth, getting started, shutting down, running to Home Depot, etc. 

I'm probably 10 hours into this build with another 10 to go. That's about as precise as I can get. 

But yeah, it definitely takes longer than most people realize, especially if you're being thoughtful about it, trying new things, etc.
